East Glos Club invests £160,000 in tennis courts upgrade

We’re currently upgrading four of our tennis courts from AstroTurf to Artificial Clay . New floodlighting will also be installed as part of the project.

The surface being laid is known as Advantage Red Court, which looks and plays more like real clay. We have appointed Bristol-based Courtstall Services as the contractor for the project.

Club Manager Darren Morris says: “The existing courts and floodlighting are in need of replacement, and in keeping with our aim of providing the best tennis facilities in the county we are investing a significant sum in this major upgrade.

“We evaluated several contractors and decided to appoint Courtstall Services to carry out the work. We chose Courtstall because they have carried out work at the club in the past to a high standard and can supply the premium product required for East Glos.”

Courtstall Services is based in Yate and is a privately owned firm. Courtstall has worked for many of the leading sports centres and tennis clubs around the UK, providing a complete range of surfaces, fencing, lighting and accessories.

Carl Page Director of Courtstall Services says: “We are proud to be working with East Glos again, a club that we have worked with for many years”.

The new courts will open in July 2015.

More about the Advantage Red court Surface

Advantage Red Court  combines the playing characteristics and appearance of clay with the benefits of an all-weather playing surface. As with traditional clay courts, play takes place on an unbound surface. Players can therefore develop and use slide in a controlled motion, allowing coverage of the whole court area with reduced effort and less stress on joints and ligaments. With near year-round playability, Advantage RedCourt allows matches and training to be conducted on an ideal tennis playing surface in comfort and with minimal downtime.
