East Glos coach Steve Evans reaches semi-finals of ITF tournament

Six East Glos members played last week in the Dubrovnik Seniors Open, in the Adriatic town of Cavtat.

Steve Evans writes:

We had a great time in Cavtat and it was really nice to have so many of us from East Glos there, as well as other friends from the British circuit.
Pick of the results was my run to the semi-finals of the Over 60s which ended with me losing 7-5, 6-3 to the eventual winner, unfortunately hampered by a hamstring injury in the second set. Stephen Clayton reached the final of the consolation Over 60s and was unlucky to be edged out in a tense match tie-break.

Unfortunately an all-East Glos first round doubles with Evans and Clayton against Graeme Adams and Henry Marshall was prevented by a shoulder injury to former chairman Henry. However, there was an East Glos doubles match played on the courts – a friendly mixed (see video).    View all the results on ITF Tennis >>

The surroundings were stunning, on the shores of the Adriatic about ten miles from the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik, also the site of a siege by the Yugoslav army in 1991/2.
