East Glos entered two teams in this event. The matches were played on a home and away basis October through April. This new initiative was welcomed by the seven participating clubs.

East Glos managed to complete all the matches despite weather conditions etc requiring a few re-arranged dates. The final matches to complete the season were played on Fridays 17 and 24 April and happened to be hard fought encounters between our A and B teams.

One match resulted in a 4-4 draw and the other a 5-3 win to the B team who were victorious in the local East Glos battle However the A team won the war by winning the league with a total of 79 points against the B team’s 76 points – East Glos overall finishing in the top two spots.

The captains/organisers were Jim Gosling for the A team and Jim Cressey for the B team.

Support from the squad players came from Michael Hare, Tony Hickling, Brian Kynaston, Henry Marshall, John Marshall, Graeme Adams, Dave Barham, Stephen Clayton, Peter Collins, John Fox & Richard Fraser.

Thanks and well done to all who supported the event and a special thanks to Val Dickinson for her help in diary dates and processing the match results – not forgetting our great bar and catering team for providing pre and post match refreshments for us and our visiting teams.

We look forward to participating in the event next autumn and we would be pleased to hear from any players of a good league standard 60+ should they wish to be considered for the squads.
