Frequently asked questions.
Here are the questions people ask most often. If your question isn’t here, please do get in touch with us.
I’m a complete beginner. Is it ok to join?
Do I have to take a ‘playing in’ test for tennis or squash?
No. When you join the club as an adult you’ll be offered a free 45-minute session with a coach. It’s not a test or an assessment. At the end of the session the coach will guide you on what they think is best for you, to help you get the most out of your East Glos membership.
How much does it cost to join?
View our membership rates here.
We want to join as a family. Are there any discounts?
Yes. We have a family membership option. For two parents and one child this works out more cheaply than buying individual memberships. Family membership covers unlimited children under 18.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. We have a monthly direct debit option to help you spread the cost.
Can I rent courts by the hour?
Sorry no. We are a members’ club so we don’t offer this.
What’s on offer at the club for children?
Do I have to wear all whites on the tennis court?
No. Those days are gone. We allow coloured clothing as long as it’s recognised sports gear. It’s probably best to leave your Bermuda shorts at home though!
I’m not sure if I want to join yet. Can I try out the club first?
Yes. We want you to feel East Glos is right for you before committing. Why not try one of our coaching programmes, beginners, improvers or advanced or alternatively have a lesson with one of our coaching team? If unsure please speak to one of our receptionists on 01242 230562
I don’t know anybody. How will I find people to play with?
Do I have to be a member to receive tennis and squash coaching?
I’m working in the area temporarily, can I join only for a few months?
We are not a pay as you play club but please contact our Reception desk and explain your circumstances and they’ll try to work out a suitable option for you.
