MacMillan Coffee Morning at East Glos raises £1,457

On Friday 25th September 2014 East Glos held its 11th successive MacMillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

On the day we raised an amazing £1,227, including gift aid. A special thank you to club member, Jacqui Matthews who works for HSBC. She has liaised with them to match some of our funding and HSBC are donating a further £230 to our total, bringing it up to £1,457.

However, if anyone bought any raffle tickets, coffee, or made a donation and didn’t get a chance to sign a Gift Aid Sheet on the day there is still one behind Reception. For every Gift Aid £ paid by an individual tax payer, HMRC gives the charity an extra .25p. So, it’s not too late and please sign if you can.

Organiser Concetta Knee says “Firstly, a huge “thank you” to everyone involved. Each year we are blessed with a lovely sunny day to show off our fabulous club. As usual the club was buzzing with new stalls and some old favourites.

“The Mayor, Councillor Simon Wheeler and his wife Sandra stayed all morning and were delighted with everything they saw. The Mayor, assisted by my husband Stuart, drew the Raffle, always our biggest money spinner. Sue and Theresa in the Club Cafe had baked trays full of appropriately coloured fairy cakes, and thanks to donations on the day an impromptu cake stall was very popular.

“As always, this event is only a success because of the hard work and efforts of the office, the Club Cafe and bar, volunteers, the grounds staff, and members, all pulling together. Thank you again and let’s make it bigger and better next year!”
