Social tennis: Flexible and fun

Social tennis

With six social tennis sessions a week, you can drop into any session, whenever you like. Perfect if you don’t want a regular commitment.

If you’re new to the club and have previous tennis playing experience, social tennis is an excellent way to meet new people.

How to get started with social tennis.

Adult members: When you join the club, we’ll give you a free 45-minute session with one of our expert coaches.

As well as giving you some tips to improve your game, the coach will guide you on how best to meet other members of the same standard and how to join in at social tennis.

Social tennis: How it works

You’ll be paired with players of the same standard where possible. Social tennis is also about forging friendships with other members, with an emphasis on fun. Your social tennis coordinators are Jacqui Matthews and Matt Claypole.

When does organised social play take place?

Ten helpful tips for enjoying your social tennis

  1. You can play as many or as few sessions as you wish and choose which session time you want to start.
  2. Please turn up at least 10 to 15 minutes before the session start.
  3. Hand in your name tag – we’ll give you one of these when you join.
  4. Tell the organiser how many sessions you’d like to play. If you change your mind please tell the organiser before the next session starts.
  5. Please respect the organiser’s decisions. We strive to give everyone balanced games, but it’s not always possible. Sometimes you might be playing with people of a stronger or lesser standard.
  6. When walking to your court, please avoid walking across the back of other courts.
  7. Please walk around and enter by the appropriate gate.
  8. If you need to retrieve a ball from another court, please wait until their point has finished to avoid interrupting their game.
  9. Everyone was new here once. Please help new members while they learn the ropes.
  10. And finally, our most important tip – have fun!
