First ITF win for East Glos junior Charlotte Russell
East Glos junior member, Charlotte Russell, 16, has just won her first 18&U ITF event, the 1st Shine Bahrain Super Series ITF Junior Championship.
The ITF Junior Circuit gives juniors all over the world an opportunity to compete, develop and travel the world, with many of the best players going on to be hugely successful on the professional tours.
The tournament win is even more special for Charlotte as this was her first tournament back after sustaining a shoulder injury after Gloucestershire County Week in July.
Charlotte is coached by East Glos coach Peter Russell who said: “To win an ITF is always an achievement and I am extremely proud. Charlie has been practising and training hard and hasn’t lost focus even without competing. She played extremely well to win the title and is looking forward to continuing the journey.”
