Mini tennis club championships 2018

East Glos Tennis coach Esther Curtis reports on the 2018 Autovillage Mini Tennis Club Championships.

Mini Red Club Championships

On a very rainy August bank holiday Sunday, ten of our Mini Red members braved the conditions to compete in our Mini Red Club Championships.

A massive thank you must go to the players for being prepared to play in the pouring rain, the family members who stood out and spectated, and to the parents who volunteered to help with umpiring the matches.

We were all very soggy by then end of it, but our congratulations and trophies went to the runner-up, Lucia Mico and the winner, Eva Haynes. All players went away with certificates, sweets, and smiles on their faces.

Mini Orange Club Championships

The Mini Orange Club Championships had to be cancelled as the bank holiday Sunday weather got worse and worse. It was rearranged and played on Saturday 15th September.

Five of our Mini Orange members battled it out in a round-robin event.

Thanks again to all players who competed, and the parents and siblings who supported. It was a great afternoon of tennis! Congratulations go to our runner-up, Stanley Jones and our winner, William Billings.

Mini Green Club Championships

Our Green event started on the rainy August Bank Holiday morning. Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, we had to abandon the tournament at the semi-final stage. Since then, the semi-finals have been played with Lewis Moore and Zechariah Odeyele progressing to the final which will be played during half-term.

A big thank you to all those who entered and competed. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you compete again in next year’s tournaments!
