Two legends and a phoenix: National padel success for club trio

Club members Sally Pendry, Heather Sheridan and Louise Dalglish have emerged victorious from a major super seniors padel competition delivered by GB Seniors Padel.

Sally and HeatherHeld last Saturday weekend at the Padel Hub, Slough, Heather and Sally (pictured) won the inaugural Legends Cup (women’s 59+ category). In the final, they beat GB team players Anthea Hunt and Audrey Henderson, 6-2 6-2.

En route to the final, they beat another GB team player in the quarter-final and Ireland team players in the semi-final in straight sets.

After just two-and-a-half years of padel at East Glos, competing on a national stage and winning against GB players is a tremendous achievement for this East Glos pair.

At the same time, Louise Dalglish was winning the inaugural Phoenix Cup (women’s 69+ category). The entry was small, so three matches were played in a round-robin format.

Louise, partnered by GB team player Rosie Connell, won both matches convincingly to finish as the overall winners.

Heather says, “All three of us are delighted to be winners of these trailblazing GB super seniors competitions, and we look forward to defending our titles next year.

“It makes a huge difference to be able to play in an age-appropriate category, so a big thank you to the GB Seniors Padel team set-up for putting the event together and making us feel so welcome.”
